Next Blog

Have you ever hit "next blog" at the top of the page? Every once in a while I'll hit it a few times and see what's up with random strangers. Eight times out of ten there is a photo of three young children at the top, perfectly spaced 18-24 months apart. They are smiling and happy and if you scroll down far enough, sure enough, one of them is wearing a BYU t-shirt or there is a post about a recent family trip to Utah with photos in front of the temple. I find this quite odd. It makes me wonder: do only Mormons blog? Does google/blogger/the internet know that I am Mormon and hence send me to only Mormon blogs?

On another note, I bought a food processor on Saturday. For a long while I thought that they were just another counter cluttering gadget, but lately as I've delved more into cooking, I've wished I had one so many times. Thanks to the Bed Bath and Beyond 20% off coupon and a Kitchen Aid rebate, I got a pretty good deal and have used it every day since I bought it (three times). Today I made "one ingredient ice cream" which is basically pureed frozen bananas. I added a little peanut butter for protein and interestingness. Mmmmm. Anyway, I'm really excited about this and am excited about the possibilities!

Also, I'm working on some super fun crafty projects that will have to remain a mystery for now. I will reveal when the time is right.

updates

Hey girls. I've felt so out of touch lately... with everything! You, the world, etc. Anyway, the thing that my life has been revolving around lately is the launch of my new business and the accompanying website. :) I don't quite know what my expectations are for Sugarhouse Ink, but for right now I'm only hoping that perhaps a steady stream of Christmas card orders will help pay for the crown I found out I have to get. Boo for expensive dentist visits. Although, I'm sure someday Whitney will learn to love and appreciate crowns, root canals and the like. For now, not so much my favorite thing.

Spencer is gone for the weekend so I'm just hanging out at home alone. Oh, and what's with me not having a job yet? Seriously, I never expected the unemployment to last this long... but I'm thankful that it has; it's given me a chance to work on lots of my own projects and learn so many things I wouldn't have if I had been working.

So anyway, that's that. It's really late and I'm super tired. Have a good night and wish me luck at the dentist...

Feeling Crafty

Spring always makes me want to start sewing or gardening or creating something. I think the idea fulfills my desire to be a part of the season that is all about creation.

Here is a great idea I found:

Decoupage Plates

Whether you use them on the table or hang them on the wall, these plates make beautiful additions to your spring décor.

What you’ll need:

  • downloaded templates (button for download link) or cool stuff to create your own
  • mod Podge
  • glass plates
  • small foam paintbrush
  • damp rag

Download and cut out the templates. Brush Mod Podge onto the front of the paper template. Lay the template face up and center the plate on top. The paper should stick to the plate right away. Turn the plate over with the paper attached. Beginning in the center, smooth the paper onto the plate. Allow the plate to dry.

You'll need glue-on hooks to hang these on a wall. Find these with the picture hanging supplies in your local craft or hardware store.
